THE BASICS OF USING SOCIAL NETWORKS TO PROMOTE YOUR SITE
December 5th, 2011
Social networking and media are some of the biggest buzzwords in the internet industry
today. No web designer or website owner can ignore the importance of social media
or underestimate its value to a business. Through social media, the Internet has
become a tool that even small businesses can use to impact the marketplace. Simply
using the these networks available and knowing what type of information to put out
can make a small business as competitive as the major players in an industry.
Understanding Social Networks
Even the most traditional salesman will tell you that the best way to grow a business
is through word of mouth referrals by existing customers. The reason for this is
that existing customers who are happy with your product or service have no hidden
agenda when recommending your business. They are already benefitting from the product
or service you offer to them. Their recommendation therefore has more credibility
and is perceived as more genuine. In the traditional sense, a social network is
a group of friends, friends of friends and so on. It could also be a group of customers
and their friends. Often these networks link up as you discover you know the same
people that some of your friends or customers do. Social networking sites have taken
the same concept and enhanced it. Through the Internet, you can now link up with
people across the globe. The link can also be through a variety of interests. It
could be sport, work, business, family, friends or simply a topic of interest. For
a business, it simply means that you have access to an almost infinite amount of
potential customers. It makes sense therefore to tap into these networks to promote
your site.
Why Social Networks Are Beneficial
Social networks provide a vast amount of resources. Think of it as a giant brainstorming
forum. Different people have different ideas, sources of knowledge and individual
experiences. Social networks provide people from all around the world an opportunity
to tap into each other's resources. So why is this of value to your business? The
answer is because people want information. They want solutions to their problems,
advice on how to go about things and new ways to do things that will benefit them.
When you are selling a product or service, you are providing your customers with
something that will benefit them or provide them with a solution to a problem. Social
networking gives you the opportunity to provide information to people and then guide
them towards finding the solution by visiting your website or getting in touch with
your company. On a social network, you can build a profile that can be accessed
on the web. It can either be a personal profile or business profile. Through that
profile, people can access information about you, your business or your products
and services. They can also share the information with their friends and network
connections.
Which Social Networks Should You Be Using?
One of the first social network sites to make a big name for itself was MySpace.
It was a personal social networking site where mostly students connected with one
another. YouTube is a major portal for sharing videos and a whole range of interesting
information. You can do an online search for just about anything, from "how to tie
a toga" to "redecorating your home" and you will be sure to find a vast number of
informational videos available on YouTube. Perhaps the current leader in the field
of social networking is Facebook. Initially, it started as a student networking
platform at Harvard University and is now one of the most widely used forms of social
media on the Internet. Twitter is another valuable social media tool, most widely
used by people with internet connections on their mobile phones. On Twitter, it
is a short message format that allows followers to see what a person or business
is up to. It's a concise and easy way to keep in touch with your customers.
How Can You Use Social Networks to Your Advantage?
Start by creating a profile page on a variety of social networking platforms. Make
it interesting and informative. Then share this profile with as many people as possible.
Invite friends and customers to link up with you and encourage them to invite their
friends. Your next step is then to create a series of interesting articles or videos
relating to your business, industry, products or services. Post these articles on
your profile or create links to them. In this way, you will be providing people
with useful information that links back to your website and taking advantage of
social network capabilities.
WHAT MAKES A LEADERSHIP OR MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER EFFECTIVE
May 9th, 2011
Anyone who has ever served in the military remembers their first encounter with
the drill instructor, because within this instrument of military training exists
a leadership speaker and motivational speaker rolled into one. The concept of getting
an otherwise apathetic individual or someone with a short attention span to listen
and act is much easier said than done. However, once a basic trainee observes the
technique employed by their instructor or "speaker" they are likely to remember,
absorb, and yes, respond to the mentor in a way that is truly effective and remarkable.
So, what is it that separates the mediocre instructor from the pro? One could combine
a number of qualities into a convenient word: "Charisma". That may sound rather
theatrical in describing a drill instructor, but yelling, threats and screaming
aside, the manner by which an effective speaker holds the audience is best put into
subcategories that include humor, verbal and visual persuasion, along with demonstrations
designed to draw the interest of the formerly "neutral" audience. A good speaker
will use examples that can easily be visualized in the mind of the audience or supported
with actual visuals or demonstrations which leave little to the imagination.
Let us refer for the moment to the motivational speaker who motivates using "infotainment"
— making the subject matter that much more interesting. The most important
element in this aspect of infotainment is the novelty added to fact so that a future
correlation can be constructed in the mind of the observer. In example, a speaker
from the American Cancer Society illustrated cancer deaths caused by cigarette smoking
as "It's like two Boeing 747 Jetliners carrying 300 people each, colliding in midair
and killing every person aboard, every hour, 24 hours a day every day all year."
This style of presentation amounts to a dramatic translation of otherwise stating
that smoking is responsible for "X" number of deaths every year. It is a shocking
illustration, and much more effective and certainly more memorable than a boring
statistic. If the speaker has the kind of verbal style and body language that is
capable of capturing the crowd, we conclude that this speaker has the elements necessary
to project "charisma" and thereby hold an audience.
Of course, comprehensive subject knowledge is a given, but one would be amazed at
how many fine scholars and instructors cannot hold an audience because their delivery
is poor. Again, they are lacking charisma. Popular sales motivational speaker used
what was described as a "fire and brimstone" style, and in attending his seminars
one would get the feeling of a southern style preacher driving home his point very
effectively using loud, deliberate, direct and decisive language, a style that in
some ways mimicked the forceful tactics of the drill instructors mentioned earlier.
He was also an effective leadership speaker, training real estate supervisors and
managers in his seminars with the same zeal, integrity and honor used in the US
officers candidate school (e.g.: The Few, The Proud, The Regional Managers). This
brings us to the abbreviated but generally accepted rules of finding good sources
for speaker staff.
Worth mentioning again, it is a given to have the best and brightest on hand, folks
who know their subject matter completely and who are flexible enough to answer questions
that are related to the topic in ways that may be indirect. With this in mind, the
speaker has the absolute duty to make an audience comfortable. When an experienced
speaker addresses an audience, they typically look into the eyes of several individuals
within the group. This makes a number of people feel that they are indeed part of
the discussion (or monologue). It relaxes enough people in the room to get contagious,
and before long, everyone is the speaker's special friend. The charisma is building
at that point, and when the speaker begins using easy to understand examples, the
audience is more focused because it is easier to stay tuned.
The effective pro speaker, whether they be a leadership speaker or motivational
speaker, then integrates appropriate humor to further entertain (infotainment) and
even endear themselves to the audience. Therefore, the "sources" that one can and
should count on are credible agencies that provide credentialed, well-known speakers
who specialize in given topic. If one plans a seminar that has a specific thrust
it is often possible to enhance that subject with related experts whose area of
expertise is related in some way to it.
ACE-AXIA HELPS AXIA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FIND THE HOMEWORK HELP THEY NEED
April 15th, 2011
Most people think that in order to advance in life, a college degree is necessary.
Young adults right out of high school can find a way to transition to college. Unfortunately,
many people who are older than that are just too busy to attend a typical university.
For people who are working, or raising a family, an online university may be the
route to success.
By far the most popular online college is Axia University. Axia is the online branch
of the Phoenix University system (Phoenix University has many traditional “brick
and mortar” university campuses throughout the country). Some students who are taking
online courses find that between their busy personal life and a lack of being able
to meet face-to-face with professors or other students, finishing course assignments
can become very challenging. For those students, Ace-Axia
comes to the rescue.
Ace-Axia is an online resource that has over one thousand course papers for, and
only for, Axia courses. If you’re a student stuck on an assignment, and time is
running out, you can visit Ace-Axia and download an
Axia course paper or tutorial for the very assignment you’re working on.
You won’t want to submit this paper as your own, but instead you’ll use it as a
learning aid to see how to structure your own paper. That makes it a great tool
to “jump start” your own paper if you’re stuck.
Ace-Axia sells individual assignments for just $2 each. Best of all, they offer
course bundles for just $10. A course bundle consists of all of the papers for one
Axia course. That’s typically a dozen, and sometimes many more, papers grouped together
in a single download for just ten bucks.
ONLINE REPUTATION MANAGEMENT: ENDING NEGATIVE SEARCH RESULTS ABOUT YOU OR YOUR BUSINESS
March 17th, 2011
Google and other search engines have made finding information about anything an
extremely simple task. However, as the saying goes, the knife cuts both ways.
Google can provide you with just about any helpful information, but it can also
provide others with harmful information about you. Or about a business
you own or work for.
Just as many companies do background checks on potential employees, now many companies
do an Internet search on a potential employee’s name. Should the employer happen
to encounter negative information about a person after a job information, that person
may very well not get the job. Negative search results can embarrass a person or
even result in that person getting harassed by people that see the information.
Negative search results on a business name might be a loss of sales for that company.
Once negative information about a person is on the Internet, it’s just about impossible
to remove it. Unless you yourself put up the information, or unless you have access
to the server the site is on, you can’t remove the information. You can attempt
to contact the site owner and request that the information be removed, but it’s
unlikely that the site owner will comply – a site owner isn’t going to want to monitor
all the content added to a site and get involved in attempting to determine what
information is true or false, fair or unfair. To restore your good name, you’ll
need to perform some online reputation
management.
While you can’t remove negative information, you can do the next best thing – drive
that information down in search results. That is, move the information out of the
first few positions, or first page or two, of a Google search. Unfortunately that’s
not an easy task to accomplish. To move one page down, you need to move other pages
up to take its place. This is accomplished through a variety of SEO (Search Engine
Optimization) techniques that are best left to the pros – a business that deals
in SEO. Fix Your Search Results
at www.fixyoursearchresults.com is the inexpensive answer to improving your Google
search results on your name or your business name. Some online reputation management
businesses charge $1000 or more to perform this task. Fix Your Search Results does
it for less than a couple of hundred dollars. If you’re experiencing negative search
results, you’ll want to visit
